Importance of Nail Trims
- As long nails hit the ground, it puts force on the foot and leg structure. This force can potentially lead to arthritis and ongoing pain. The growth pattern of a dog's nails forms a curved shape.
- If left untrimmed, the claws will eventually curve under the dog or cat's paws and dig into the skin, creating pain when they walk and will possibly require a vet visit to remove the nail and get meds to prevent infection.
- Longer nails will force them to start placing weight on the nails instead of their paw pads. This will result in less grip to the ground and cause your dog to fall more frequently, which puts them at risk for other injuries.
Why choose us?
We understand that nail trims while a simple thing can be a challenging task for some dogs/pets & their owners whether it's due to the pet not liking it or the owner not being comfortable to actually clip them or physically might not be able to trim them, we want to make that process easy peasy for both the pet & the owner. We too have a dog who doesn't like to be messed with & understand the pain in the butt it can be when it's time to trim them. We do have experience trimming "aggressive" pets but we please ask that if the pet is severally aggressive we will not accept them for safety reasons and recommend you go to a vet and/or trainer. So why us? We take our time and don't rush the pet or process, meaning if we have to baby talk and sit on the floor or couch with them for a bit to earn their trust, we will. If we have to feed them treats the whole time to make them more comfy and relaxed during them trimming, we will. If we have to stop for a wiggle break or "breather moment" after every nail or every paw we clip, we will. If we have to work on getting their nails to recede and have their quicks not be as long and clip them every 2-3 weeks, we will. We put the dog & their emotions/ feelings & needs first! We want to make sure the dog is comfy. With that all being said its possible that some dogs/pets will never be comfy with the process and that could be a result of having been clipped too close and bleeding (which is possible with any nail trimmer or facility/grooming salon) or it could just be the pet themselves, just like us humans we don't like everything we have to do (dentist work or blood draws) same goes for pets.
